What is underwriting?

Underwriting is the process used by a large provider of financial services to assess customer eligibility for their service or products. Investment houses, banks, and insurers are examples of such providers. Credit, insurance, and equity capital are a few examples of their provisions.

What is title insurance?

Title insurance provides indemnity against financial loss that could result from such things as defects in real property title. It also deals with invalidity of mortgage liens or their inability to be enforced.

What is a lien?

A lien is a type of security interest. It is granted over property in order to secure the performance of some obligation. Most often this means that it is used to secure the payment of a debt.
